A satirical card portraying a monstrous telecom sabotage threat uncovered near the UN in NYC: over 300 SIM servers and 100,000 SIM cards, capable of disabling cell service and jamming emergency communications, just before the U.N. General Assembly.
As nearly 150 world leaders prepared for the U.N. General Assembly in Manhattan, the U.S. Secret Service uncovered and dismantled a large illicit telecom network around NYC. The network included over 300 SIM servers and more than 100,000 SIM cards within 35 miles of the UN. It had the capacity to send 30 million text messages per minute, disable cell towers, mask encrypted communications, and disrupt emergency services. While no direct plot to disrupt the UN gathering was found, the threat was serious. Forensics are ongoing.
