President Donald Trump has stated that media moguls Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch, along with tech figures Larry Ellison and Michael Dell, are likely to be part of a U.S. investor group acquiring or controlling TikTok’s U.S. operations. Under a 2024 law, ByteDance must divest or face a ban over national security concerns. The proposed deal includes Americans holding six of seven seats on the oversight board, and U.S. control over TikTok’s user data and algorithm. The exact deal structure is still in flux.
