President Donald Trump has issued an ultimatum to NATO countries: he will impose significant new sanctions on Russia only if all NATO members first halt purchases of Russian oil. He also proposed 50-100% tariffs on China over its Russian oil imports. Several NATO members (e.g. Turkey, Hungary, Slovakia) still purchase Russian oil, prompting criticism and diplomatic tension.
