A satirical trading-card capturing the absurdity of the retail-trader meme-mob resurrecting Beyond Meat's stock for a short-squeeze party-fundamentals optional, hype mandatory.
The plant-based meat company Beyond Meat, previously a darling of the vegan-and-clean-label explosion, had collapsed to roughly $1.10 per share by October 2025 following a debt-swap deal that massively diluted existing investors and wiped out much of its market value. But just as many thought it was done, the retail “meme-stock” crowd swooped in: high short interest (≈ 54 % of float shorted) combined with social-media hype and a ticking lock-up expiration triggered a volume surge and more than 100 % upside in one day. The story illustrates how in today’s markets, fundamentals may take a back seat to social momentum, short squeezes and meme narratives.
