Rosanna Pulido:  Illinois Congressional Candidate of Substance
Elections piece by Sher Zieve (2/26/09)

In a state not known for its traditional American values, a strong 5th District conservative candidate has come forth and is taking no prisoners.  Her name is Rosanna Pulido.  I first met Rosanna, native Chicagoan and the founder and current director of the Illinois Minuteman Project, in 2006.  This prompted my interview with her and subsequent article “More Illegals in Illinois than California.”  Since then, Rosanna has been extremely busy.  She is also one of the original Minutemen who served at the Historic Arizona/Mexico Border Watch in 2005 as well as the Illinois Spokesperson for “You Don’t Speak For Me” - American Hispanics speaking out against illegal immigration.

Ending Politically Tainted Intelligence Gathering and Analysis
National Security piece by Jim Kouri (2/26/09)

Closely tied to the question of how best to set intelligence requirements are the larger questions of how to improve analysis by the intelligence community and how to increase its impact.

Light At The End Of The Tunnel Turned Off!
   Progressivism piece by J. D. Longstreet (2/26/09)

It is a painful time for Americans of my age.  We have the memories of an America, glorious and honorable in her past… a past, which has been forgotten and erased, in many cases, from the history books of America’s students. Above all things our America was honorable. A young American today would be hard pressed to define “honor.“  To define “dishonorable” is much easier.  One has only to turn one’s attention to the actions of the American Congress, ruled by the American Left, for a real-time view of dishonor.

‘Is Obama’s ‘homeless’ woman really displaced?‘
Welfare State piece by Offsite (2/25/09)

When President Obama went to Fort Myers, Fla., to emphasize the nation’s need for his economic stimulus plan, he promised to help a pleading homeless woman get back on her feet in a highly publicized exchange - but recent reports now reveal the woman may, in fact, be an owner of multiple properties.

‘What if there is no Man-Made Global Warming? What then?‘
Global Warming piece by Tom DeWeese (2/25/09)

Here are some questions every American should ask their elected officials - especially those supporting “climate change” legislation: If it is proven that climate change is not man-made, but natural, will you be relieved and excited to know that man is off the hook? Will you now help to remove all of the draconian regulations passed during the global warming hysteria, since it was all wrong headed and harmful to the economy and our way of life?

Cap And Trade Will Shut Down What’s Left Of The Economy
ObamaNation piece by Malcolm T. Hedges (2/25/09)

As energy costs are artificially inflated, business and jobs will disappear in droves.  Everyone but the Progressive Socialist Elites will be thrown into poverty.

‘Are the States About to Slap the Runaway Fed Down to Constitutional Size?‘
Big Brother piece by JB Williams (2/25/09)

On February 5, 2009, I released a column titled New Hampshire Leads Next American Revolution! At the time, only a handful of states had introduced legislative efforts to reclaim state sovereignty under the Ninth and Tenth Amendments of the US Constitution.

Oklahoma House passes sovereignty bill
Big Brother piece by Offsite (2/25/09)

NEW YORK - Oklahoma’s House of Representatives is the first legislative body to pass a state sovereignty resolution this year under the terms of the Tenth Amendment.

‘Socialism ‘killing’ American work ethic?‘
   Socialism piece by Offsite (2/25/09)

A Canadian pro-family activist fears the U.S. “stimulus” package is merely socialism that will lead Americans into poverty.

Costly Shibboleths
   ObamaNation piece by Offsite (2/25/09)

Barack Obama set out a few modest goals in his address to both chambers of Congress last night: cure cancer, reform Social Security and Medicare, destroy al-Qaeda, end our dependence on foreign oil, promise education to every American “from the day they are born” to the day they begin work, and “save our planet from the ravages of climate change.“ The few prescriptions for accomplishing these gargantuan tasks, free from details or pricetags, were plucked from a laundry list of the Left’s favorite economic shibboleths. Large and small, few are in themselves disastrous, but taken together, they will likely forestall or deplete any economic recovery the nation may enjoy.

San Francisco Chronicle May Close
   MSM piece by Offsite (2/25/09)

NEW YORK/SAN FRANCISCO -(Reuters) - San Francisco may lose its main newspaper, the San Francisco Chronicle, as owner Hearst Corp cuts a “significant” number of jobs and decides whether to shut or sell the money-losing daily.

Welcome to an Era of Excessive Government
   ObamaNation piece by Offsite (2/25/09)

“Neither a borrower nor lender be for loan oft loses both itself and friend and borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry. This above all, to thine own self be true. And it must follow, as the night the day thou canst not then be false to any man,“ William Shakespeare, Hamlet, Act 1, Scene 3.

Democrats Put Global Warming Rider In Spending Bill
Global Warming piece by Offsite (2/25/09)

Congressional Democrats have inserted a “dangerous” rider into an appropriations bill that would allow the Department of Interior to regulate greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S., according to a release from Republicans on the House Committee on Natural Resources.

Eric Holder’s right - in 1 sense
   Racism piece by Offsite (2/25/09)

Attorney General Eric Holder said the United States is “a nation of cowards” when it comes to race relations. In one sense, he is absolutely right. Many whites, from university administrators and professors, schoolteachers to employers and public officials accept behavior from black people that they wouldn’t begin to accept from whites. For example, some of the nation’s most elite universities, such as Vanderbilt, Stanford University and the University of California, have yielded to black student demands for separate graduation ceremonies and separate “celebratory events.“ Universities such as Stanford, Cornell, MIT and Cal Berkeley have, or have had, segregated dorms.

Gov. Jindal, Faust and the devil
Big Brother piece by Offsite (2/25/09)

During these perilous times we live in, I often find solace by retreating to my classical music background and the literature that sustained the classical masters for hundreds of years. In particular during America’s current economic recession/depression and the recently passed economic stimulus plan of $787 billion ($3.67 trillion in actual spending costs over three years), my mind hearkens back to that magnificent German playwright from the Romantic Era, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832), particularly his dramatic epic poem in two volumes, “Faust” (1808, 1833). Goethe’s “Faust” made a deal with the devil (Mephistopheles), which by the end of this epic poem not only cost the good professor Faust his life, but also the lives of those people he loved, including the fated young lover Marguerite.

LBJ’s Great Society on steroids
   ObamaNation piece by Offsite (2/25/09)

Under the subterfuge of helping the economy, Barack Obama’s stimulus plan legislates vast new spending programs to finance liberal policy goals that are unnecessary and undesirable. The flow of taxpayers’ money will be so gargantuan as to make Lyndon B. Johnson’s Great Society expansion of the welfare state look puny.

CNN Claims Obama The New Ronald Reagan, Reassigns ‘Morning in America’ to The One
MSM piece by Warner Todd Huston (2/25/09)

Once again CNN goes over the top(1) in its gobsmacked praise of its Obammessiah. This time appropriating Ronald Reagan’s famous “morning in America” theme and assigning it to President Obama as a result of his not-the-state-of-the-union speech last night. In reality, Obama’s speech was more like a “moaning in America” as opposed to that bright new morning that Reagan invoked.

The Coming Battle over Reapportionment and Redistricting
Politics piece by Bruce Walker (2/25/09)

The decision by Senator Gregg not to become Commerce Secretary is the first round in a vital battle over reapportionment and redistricting.  Title 13 Section 2 provides “The Bureau [of the Census] is an agency within, and under the jurisdiction of, the Department of Commerce.”  President Obama and his Chief of Staff lack the legal authority to move the Bureau of the Census under the direct control of the White House, and an indirect effort to do that - - exactly what the Obama Administration has said that it intends to do - - is a contravention of federal law.  Article I Section 2 of the Constitution makes it clear that Congress, not the President, has the constitutional authority to define the census process.  If President Obama tries to politically manage the census process, he is not only violating federal law but he is also violating the Constitution.

Wistful and Self-Absorbed, Obama Needs to be Interrupted by Pelosi
ObamaNation piece by Yomin Postelnik (2/25/09)

It’s a sad day when the most regal person on stage at the State of the Union is Nancy Pelosi, but that’s exactly what happened last night.  And despite the media accolades, the fact that Barack Hussein Obama’s first entrance into the US House of Representatives had all the pomp and circumstance of Hugo Chavez at the racetrack was as clear as day.

Slowing down Obama’s Spending Wheel
Economics piece by Greg Fink (2/25/09)

So, let me see if I got it correct, America is spending far too much money fighting terrorism and stabilizing the Middle East at a tune of $650 billion since 2003; the result, we try to pull out in the next 19 months in order to rescue America’s economic future.

A Lament for Britain
NewWorldOrder piece by Aaron Goldstein (2/25/09)

Fourteen winters ago, I spent a semester in London as a parliamentary intern in the British House of Commons where I had stints with two Members of Parliament from the Labour Party.  My second placement was with a MP from Glasgow named Jimmy Wray. Jimmy and I got along famously.  I was one of the few people who could understand his thick Scottish burr.  We were a perfect match.

A Conservative Hero Visits the U.S. - What we can learn from Geert Wilders
Progressivism piece by Rev Bresciani (2/25/09)

Appearing briefly on Fox’s Glenn Beck show Feb 23, 2009, Dutch Freedom Party MP, Geert Wilders said “we should throw out every bit of hate crime legislation that is ever proposed.“ Why would he say this and why should we take him seriously?

‘How Many Americans Will Have To Die Before Our Border Is Secured?‘
National Security piece by Dave Gibson (2/25/09)

With the recent arrest of a Salvadoran national for the murder of missing intern Chandra Levy, the issue of crime which can be attributed to illegal immigration is and should be on the minds of millions of Americans.

Editorial: The Newspaper Rags Have Caused Their Own Financial Problems
   MSM piece by Editor (2/24/09)

An overpriced “Newspaper” that includes little news and is saturated with Progressive Socialist pap and propaganda has little to offer the average American.

Some Polls Should Be Restricted To Employed Income Tax Payers
Politics piece by Malcolm T. Hedges (2/24/09)

Perhaps a reputable company could come up with such a poll?  Then we would start seeing some truly representative results.

Soccer will never be popular in America for good reason(s)
Sports piece by Ari Kaufman (2/24/09)

Next week, I journey to “The Continent” for the first time. This eight day endeavor in Italy should be an appropriate appetizer to Euro culture—and despite some initial reticence, I do look forward to it.

Why is VAWA in the stimulus package?: Keynesian Economics and Obama’s New New Deal Gone Madly Awry.
   Economics piece by Offsite (2/24/09)

I will warn you that this is a longer piece than I usually write and is not suitable in length for newspaper columns. It may take you fifteen or twenty minutes to read it, rather than the usual three. But I offer this for your investment of time: you will learn many things about our economy and the plans for its recovery that you might not know and may be surprised to learn, if not in some instances be outright shocked. I may not get you to change your viewpoint, but you will be challenged to think about some of the most important problems facing America today with facts you probably will be learning for the very first time. Much, if not most, of what I will be telling you cannot be found in mainstream newspapers.

FBI Director Warns of Mumbai-Style Attacks in U.S.
   Terrorism piece by Offsite (2/24/09)

FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III issued a new warning Monday that terrorists are prepared to conduct Mumbai-style attacks on U.S. soil.

Recession Will Trigger Huge Medicaid Bill
   Socialism piece by Offsite (2/24/09)

As millions of unemployed Americans lose private health coverage in the recession, Medicaid, the national health program, will absorb a huge financial hit, according to a new Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) report.

Phony Stimulus - The Congressional Budget Office Tells It As It Is
Economics piece by FreeCongressFoundation: Marion Edwyn Harrison (2/24/09)

In move hailed in so much of the media as a victory which will re-ignite the American economy and create millions of jobs, President Barack H. Obama recently signed H.R. 1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, or, as it is more commonly known, the “Stimulus Bill.”  Lobbyists, states and various groups now are lining up to claim their piece of the pie, while the Obama Administration has modified its rhetoric about the impact the bill will have upon the economy.  White House spokesman Robert Gibbs stated, “[The economy] has not yet bottomed out.  [It is] probably going to get worse before [it] improves.  But this is a big step toward making that improvement and putting people back to work.”  Gibbs also hinted at the prospect of another, similar bill should the economy not recover in the near future.
