The Barack Obama Show
MSM piece by Malcolm T. Hedges (2/28/09)

Today Rush effectively used the term “The Barack Obama Show”.  It seems such a reference has drifted around the Internet for several months. Using it to reflect the Presidential media blitz is a very perceptive observation.

A Lesson Not To Be Mis(es)sed
Economics piece by J.J. Jackson (2/28/09)

The story, as it goes, is that Ludwig von Mises, who was the finance minister of Austria at a time of great financial crisis, was approached by the bureaucrats about the rampant inflation that was infecting society.  They sought his wisdom and help in alleviating the problem and he agreed.  But he agreed with a condition.  The condition was that at midnight they were to meet him at a place of his choosing and the bureaucrats, so distressed over the near collapse of the economy, did agree.

Berkeley, California-AGN-TCL Wire Release 9/27/09   Shocked Berkeley students and adults, Tuesday evening, February, 24, witnessed the legendary Phyllis Schlafly fall as she was leaving the stage after delivering a well received and motivating speech about “Conservatism vs Feminism.“  Through the pain of a fractured hip, the 84 year old Mrs. Schlafly was as courageous and gracious waiting for medical assistance as she has been throughout her 40 years as a political activist.

A Reminder of What Jindal’s Made of
Republicrats piece by Warner Todd Huston (2/28/09)

We all saw the rocky performance that Bobby Jindal gave in his response to the president’s not-the-state-of-the-union speech earlier this week. There was a lot of wincing going on during and after his performance. But, let me stress the word “performance,“ here. It was NOT the basic theme of the speech that was so bad. It was but how he delivered it.

Chinese Spies Infiltrating US Businesses
National Security piece by Jim Kouri (2/28/09)

The almost legendary MI5 British counterintelligence service is said to be deeply concerned over an increase in spying by Chinese operatives in the United Kingdom. Although intelligence experts aren’t certain how widespread the problem is, they believe the espionage is rampant and a serious consequence of the global economy.

‘Is It Taxation - Or Theft?‘
Congress piece by Thomas D. Segel (2/28/09)

Harlingen, Texas, February 27, 2009:  There is a saying that when one person steals your money, he is a thief.  When Congress does the same thing, it is taxation.  I would argue what Congress does is still the work of 535 thieves.

‘Who do you trust? Who can you trust next election?‘
Elections piece by John Longenecker (2/28/09)

Now the question has some meaning, since the Republicans seem to have woken up and discovered what has happened to them.

Today we received our final tax refund from Big Brother.  A few dollars have been used to buy some goodies, but most is being directed toward eliminating debt.

People demanded change and it’s coming
   Economics piece by Offsite (2/27/09)

The American people want change. The November election established the demand for change. It is just a question of what change we are going to get and if that change is good for our future.

Economic Crisis Complicates California’s Goals on Climate
Global Warming piece by Offsite (2/27/09)

COLTON, Calif. - Only a few years ago, CalPortland planned on keeping its plant here operating as long as Mount Slover’s limestone held out. For more than a century, Colton’s kilns and crushing machines have been churning out cement for the streets and buildings of Los Angeles.

Toward Nationalizing U.S. Banks - Toward One World Order
NewWorldOrder piece by Rev Bresciani (2/27/09)

According to bible prophecy the single reason that the worlds last and most vicious world leader succeeds where all others before him have failed is that he doesn’t attempt to conquer the world with warfare. How does he do it?

The Most Dangerous Gang In America May Already Be In Your Neighborhood
Crime piece by Dave Gibson (2/27/09)

MS-13 (or Mara Salvatrucha) was formed by Salvadoran, mostly illegal immigrants in the 1980’s, during El Salvador’s civil war. While the gang was originally made up exclusively of Salvadorans, they now accept all Central Americans as well as Mexicans. MS stands for Mara (slang for mob), Salva (El Salvador), Trucha (slang for on-guard).

National Security piece by J. D. Longstreet (2/27/09)

Texans along US/Mexico border not safe or secure! - The dope gang wars on the US/Mexican border must really be ticking some people in Washington off, big time.  Just when they thought the decks were clear, and they have the numbers to pass the Amnesty Bill, this time for sure, all hell breaks loose on the border.

Editorial: I Would Like To Revive The Right Topixs Search Engine
   Internet piece by Editor (2/26/09)

Recent indications are that selective political censorship of Internet searches is starting to move forward.

Public perception versus economic reality
Economics piece by John David Powell (2/26/09)

A friendly conversation the other night about politics and the economy underscored the great gulf between perception and reality.  The old saying is true that perception is reality, but, in reality, only if one doesn’t delve deeply into the subject in question.

The 2010 Decennial Census and Grounds for Suspicion
Government piece by FreeCongressFoundation: Marion Edwyn Harrison (2/26/09)

There are many cries for greater transparency in the functioning of the Federal Government.  One subject which has received relatively sparse media and political attention but which raises grounds for suspicion (if perhaps short of “reeking” with suspicion) is conduct of the 2010 Decennial Census.

Senate OKs DeMint’s Fairness Doctrine Ban
Big Brother piece by Offsite (2/26/09)

The Senate on Thursday overwhelmingly approved an amendment banning reinstatement of the so-called “Fairness Doctrine” that would threaten conservative talk radio.

A San Diego weather forecaster will be a featured speaker at the 2009 International Climate Change Conference in New York City.

Hate Speech At San Francisco State University
   EdukShun piece by Offsite (2/26/09)

The fragile ceasefire between Hamas and Israel in the recent Gaza incursion may have brought a tentative peace to that region, but on campuses in California—the veritable ground zero of anti-Israel sentiment in the academy—the debate over the 60-year conflict has gained a new, and more insidious, momentum as student demonstrations, protests, and denunciations of racist Zionism, a “brutal occupation,“ and “genocide” of Arabs were heard on campuses worldwide.

The Cal Ripken president
   Government piece by Offsite (2/26/09)

...In fourth grade, the earliest grade for which international comparisons are available, American students outperform most other countries in reading, math and science. Fourth-graders score in the 92nd percentile in science, the 58th percentile in math and the 70th percentile in reading, where they beat 26 of 35 countries, including Germany, France and Italy.

Ayers Under Fire
   Progressivism piece by Offsite (2/26/09)

The Support Bill Ayers petition has now garnered signatures from thousands of academics and other citizens in support for former Weather Underground member Bill Ayers, but Ayer’s reputation in academia may not be so rosy after his time in this year’s election spotlight.

The Green Energy Fantasy
   Energy piece by Offsite (2/26/09)

Will a green energy industry be an engine of economic growth? Many want us to think so, including our new president. Apparently a booming green economy with millions of new jobs is just around the corner. All we need is the right mix of government “incentives.“

Hey America, Knock Off The Pity Party
Economics piece by Thomas D. Segel (2/26/09)

Harlingen, Texas, February 23, 2009:  There is a lot of hand wringing and moaning going on across the American landscape.  The political prevaricators proclaim we are facing such dire times and such agony that it is almost the end of days.  Pardon me, but what a bunch of crap!

Invasion USA: Congressman Calls for Hearing on Border Violence
National Security piece by Jim Kouri (2/26/09)

Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Lamar Smith (R-Texas) today called on House Democrats to hold a hearing on the surge in drug-related violence on the U.S.-Mexico border.  The violence is attributed to Mexican drug cartels, fighting turf battles and competing to control the U.S. drug trade markets.

So. Fla. Sun-Sentinel: Slams Hysterics Over Gun Banning While Advocating Gun Banning
Progressivism piece by Warner Todd Huston (2/26/09)

Seriously, do the kindly folks at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel’s editorial board even know what the definition of the word logic is? In theirs headlined, “Hysteria fuels sales of guns and ammo(1),“ the Sun-Sentinel takes Floridians to task for being so stupid as to be afraid of Obama’s gun banning plans, claiming that Obama “didn’t do it.“ But, even after telling readers no one wants to ban guns, the piece ends with the Sun-Sentinel editorial board advocating for the banning of guns! So the message is, no one wants a gun ban but we should ban guns? This is the sort of logical disconnect that fuels the very “hysteria” that the paper is claiming to want to dispel.
