Open Letter to Attorney General Eric Holder

Mr. Holder:  On Wednesday in Washington DC, you used Black History Month as an excuse to inject unnecessary and regressive racial politics back into America.

Eric, as the nation’s first black attorney general appointed by the first black president, are you truly still whining? And further, do you honestly expect Americans in 2009 to buy into this balderdash?

Herein, I quote directly from you:

“Americans still self-segregate on the weekends and in their private lives”

“Americans are cowards when it comes to discussing race.“

Ok, sir, a few history lessons you may not have learned in your seven years at Columbia or your first job at the NAACP:

1. America is in fact the LEAST racist nation on earth.

2. The USA lost nearly 630,000 lives and savaged our nation physically, economically and psychologically to destroy slavery before ANY other nation, sans Britain, did. Perhaps our greatest president became a martyr for the cause.

3. We’re the only nation outside of Africa with a black president.

4. Your grandparents, who have their roots in Barbados, have likely seen true racism. You, growing up in New York City, likely have not.

5. Your predecessor as the nation’s chief lawyer, the esteemed Michael Mukasey, is Jewish. He does not complain about people who are “too cowardly” to discuss religion or who “self segregate” on Sundays at temples and churches throughout the nation. His father escaped the barbarism and genocide of the USSR 90 years ago to enjoy America’s freedom. He’s grateful for that, as you should be too.

The only conceivable reason people like you, CNN, and left-wing blogs, keep the race debate alive is to win votes, or like Jesse Jackson and the NAACP, to make money. Do not be like any of those entities, please. They set America back 50 years and are modern day slaveholders deterring racial progress. Barack Obama would not even approve.

Discussions on race, for better or worse, are conducted daily; it’s why America is a place with not only the least racial prejudice on earth, but also the greatest religious and personal freedom—a place where, like Israel in the Middle East, people relocate to, for freedom and democratic/liberal values.

Mr. Holder, everyone in the world—not just in America—“self segregates.“

Do you think the blacks or Koreans in urban Atlanta hang out with their white or Hispanic friends at Sunday BBQs? Are there lots of North Africans in the bistros of downtown Paris? Do Pakistani Muslims mingle with British Aristocrats at Saturday afternoon tea? This is common sense that history explains.

In fact, Eric, white Americans probably “segregate” less than ANY race. Blacks, Hispanics, Asians and white Europeans do it far more often by any qualitative measure.

If a person of a different race or religion lived next door to me and enjoyed travel, military history, attending baseball games and playing golf like I do on the weekend, I’d gladly hang out with him. In fact, I currently do.

Most folks I know don’t see skin color or nationality; they see human beings and Americans, with no hyphens. Only those in the race business, apparently like you, Mr. Holder, do.

Despite your partisan pardoning of criminals and appeasing evil, you’ve lived a very blessed life here that you could achieve in NO other country. Have some humility and gratitude.
