‘Guy Gabaldon - Do You Remember ?‘
Military piece by Thomas D. Segel
(8/23/10)
Harlingen, Texas, August 22, 2010: It happens every time a few grey-haired members of the warrior clan assemble for casual conversation. Veterans of the Navy and Marine Corps call them “Sea Stories”. The Army and Air Force crowd refer to them as “War Stories”. Regardless of their exact title, these tales are told time and time again…and with each telling the details become more enhanced and the actions more thrilling.
End environmental experiments on Africans!
GreeenIsm piece by Guest:
Fiona Kobusingye (8/23/10)
I wish I had a shilling for every time someone told me spraying homes with DDT to prevent malaria is like using Africans in evil experiments. I would be a rich woman.
Genetic Modified Foods - Senate Bill S510
Food piece by Offsite
(8/23/10)
If you are what you eat, we are all in deep trouble. What constitutes healthy food is a debate that can encompass different viewpoints. In spite of this, control of the food chain is a concern that crosses all ideological perspectives. The most essential of all human rights is the effective ability of access and ingestion of nutrients that are necessary to sustain life. Forced feeding of toxicants, as the only foodstuff available to the masses, is a true crime against humanity. Withholding safe food from the public allows for the gluttony of elites. These masters of the universe immunize themselves by hording nontoxic provisions as they ride a black horse. The Apocalypse of a food crisis is not an accident. The GMO designer cuisine is meant to supply a poisonous menu, until the final collective culling of the herd, is ready for the planet.
Madam Speaker Unmasks the Ugly Face of Socialism
Socialism piece by J. D. Longstreet
(8/23/10)
Back in the 1950’s, while still a lad in high School, I delivered a speech at the University of South Carolina. I don’t remember a great deal of what I said in that particular speech, but I remember I called notice to the dangers of socialism and communism—and the danger of an all powerful government they both demand.

‘Extreme Weather’? Not Yet!
ClimateGate piece by Guest:
Dennis T. Avery (8/22/10)
Churchville, VA - The death toll from recent “extreme weather events” has been sharply declining since the 1920s, as my valued colleague Indur Goklany has valorously pointed out. Air conditioning, flood control, earthquake proofing and better weather forecasting have all helped. Despite vast media coverage, extreme weather now causes only a half-percent of global deaths. A large part of the gains came through crop production increases using fossil-fueled industrial fertilizers and irrigation pumps. This meant the world had fossil-fueled food to share with countries suddenly caught by devastating (but short- term) drought or flood.
America’s Insurgent Pollster
Politics piece by Offsite
(8/22/10)
You can tell it’s a volatile political year when a balding, middle-aged pollster gets a standing ovation from hundreds of state legislators after delivering the news that only 23% of the people in this country believe today’s federal government has the consent of the governed.

Reminder: Obama’s Played More Golf in 2 Yrs. Than Bush Did Both Terms
TheFringeMedia piece by Warner Todd Huston
(8/22/10)
Between 2000 and 2008 one of the left’s most cherished ways to ridicule President Bush was to point out how often he went golfing. Bush’s golfing was a clear sign that he was ignoring the work he had to do in Washington and that he just didn’t care they claimed. He was a playboy, a goof off, a time waster. But now that Barack Obama has come to office all of a sudden the left has found that golf isn’t worth noting, even as Obama has played the game more(1) in just under two years than Bush did during his entire eight-year term.
Mexico, Bloody Mexico
National Security piece by Alan Caruba

‘Whose Responsibility is It?‘
The Republic piece by Robert R. Owens
(8/21/10)
Having spent time describing the three unalienable rights of life, liberty and property upon which our Republic was founded and from which all others flow it is necessary to speak of the natural responsibilities which form their inverse image. Peering through the looking glass at original intent we try to make sense of the present wonderland where rights and responsibilities are never what they seem.
Amazing Love Story In Face of Death Unfolds At Oakley School
Life piece by Rev. Miles
(8/21/10)
(Oakley, California 8/21/10) One of the first individuals to be encountered when coming to Trinity Christian School in Oakley, is School Administration Assistant, Dee Halog. The attractive young woman behind the Reception Area desk possesses a compelling friendly face. Her name wasn’t always Halog. She was formerly Dee Strongren. Nearby, one might notice a young man doing various duties, whose distinctive continental (yes exotic) look was moulded from his mixed Filipino and Japanese heritage which, mind you, is becoming. Sean Halog stands out even though his is a quiet presence. Whoever sees them at their work have no idea of the phenomenon of their lives underneath the surface, which is true of most people…
‘Global currency around the corner?‘
NewWorldOrder piece by Offsite
(8/21/10)
If the International Monetary Fund gets its way, the U.S. dollar will be replaced by the “bancor” as the world’s reserve currency. According to a report published April 13, the IMF would like to adopt a plan of action that would expand the use of SDRs (Special Drawing Rights) to replace the U.S. dollar as the storehouse of value and eventually create a global currency called the “bancor.“

Demercrats piece by Warner Todd Huston

When will Obama’s gifts to unions (at the expense of the taxpayers) ever end? On the heels of a $26.1 billion teacher union bailout(1), now Democrats are attempting to get Congress to give $34 billion of the taxpayer’s money to the Teamsters because that union has mishandled its pension funds.

Lessons In Apologetics No. 4: Pragmaticism and Combinationalism
Religion piece by Frederick Meekins
(8/21/10)
The next theory of truth and religious knowledge is pragmatism. Developed initially by Charles Sander Pierce and expanded by William James, pragmatism is the theory that truth is not determined by what one thinks, feels, or discovers but rather by what works.
The NRA, Poop Creek and A Missing Paddle
Election 2010 piece by J.J. Jackson
(8/21/10)
The National Rifle Association is not getting a lot of rave reviews from its members lately. In fact, by the looks of things the NRA is willfully taking a long trip up poop creek and doing so without a paddle in hand. What is the whole kerfuffle that has led to this ill advised journey? Well it revolves around Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

Inflation piece by Offsite
(8/20/10)

Thomas Jefferson and the Ground Zero Mosque
The Republic piece by Offsite
(8/20/10)
President Obama stepped into it over the weekend. Speaking Friday August 13, 2010, at a White House dinner to honor Ramadan, the President told his audience, “Muslims have the right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country,“ an obvious reference to the controversy surrounding the Ground Zero mosque. On Saturday, while spending the day in the Gulf, the president attempted to clarify his earlier remarks: “I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making the decision to put a mosque there. I was commenting very specifically on the right people have that dates back to our founding. That’s what our country is about.“
‘Should Our Motto Feature ‘Apple Pie’?‘
The Republic piece by Thomas D. Segel
(8/20/10)
Harlingen, Texas, August 21, 2010: Apple Pie arrived on these shores at the same time our first colonists stepped foot on America’s soil. Early in our history the statement “As American as Apple Pie” was used to describe a person or a trait that was symbolic of our country. It is said that during World War II when American soldiers were asked what they were fighting for….the most common answer was “For Mom and Apple Pie.“
Dates That Destroyed America
Progressivism piece by Offsite
(8/20/10)
The decision by Congress to socialize medicine in the US ranks among the most draconian, most egregious, most horrific actions ever taken by the central government in Washington, D.C. This bill rocks the principles of liberty and constitutional government to the core. It changes fundamental foundations; it repudiates historical principle. Oh! The same flag may fly on our flagpoles, the same monuments may grace our landscape, and the same National Anthem may be sung during our public ceremonies, but it is not the same America. The Congress of the United States has now officially turned America into a socialist state.
