The Case Against Public Employee Unions
Unions piece by Guest:
Ben Cerruti (2/21/11)
In Wisconsin the government has reacted to the adverse effect on the finances of government by flagrant public employee benefits derived from one-sided collective bargaining. Private sector unions have two adversarial parties at the bargaining table to negotiate a bipartisan agreement. Public sector unions are essentially bargaining with their own ilk. The parties on the other side of the table are derivatives of the political system. The taxpayer is left out of the process.
More Biofuels, More Greenhouse Gases
GreeenIsm piece by Dennis T. Avery
(2/21/11)
CHURCHVLLE, VA - A new study from the University of Illinois estimates that the world has more than 702 million hectares of marginal land suitable for growing biofuels. The researchers assessed land around the world based on its soil quality, slope, and regional climate. They added degraded or low-quality cropland but ruled out any good cropland, pasture, or forests; they also assumed no irrigation. They came up with the surprising total 2.7 million sq. miles of marginal land that could be available for switchgrass or other biofuel crops.

Armstrong Williams Duped By Egyptian Hooligans
Middle East piece by Frederick Meekins
(2/15/11)
Of the tumult in Egypt, columnist Armstrong Williams posted that America should not be afraid of Egypt’s emerging democracy that “will be different from America’s political system.“
Egypt, Israel and Gaza - Flashpoint For Future Confrontation
Middle East piece by David Singer
(2/15/11)
The Egyptian Revolution has raised questions as to the possible termination of the 1979 Israel-Egypt Peace Treaty by Egypt. Any such concern - in the short term - seems to have been allayed by the Fourth Egyptian Military Statement(1) issued on 12 February declaring: “the country’s ministers will stay in power for the time being and international agreements and commitments will be honoured.“
It IS Time For Draconian Budget Cuts!
Government piece by Doug Edelman
(2/15/11)
President Obama has submitted his budget proposal, and unsurprisingly it calls for an even bigger deficit and more spending! Fortunately, the GOP-controlled House is sending the Administration a message reminiscent of Tip-O’Neal’s “dead on arrival” response to Reagan’s austere budgets.

I have done the math, and I will therefore keep it simple
Election 2012 piece by Ari Kaufman
(2/14/11)
Happy Valentine’s Day, folks.
Dead by the Hand of Labor
Unions piece by Offsite
(2/14/11)
According to a Chicago Tribune story, the International Association of Machinists (IAM), has filed suit in federal district court in Charleston, South Carolina, seeking an injunction requiring Republican governor Nikki Haley and her State Director of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation, Catherine Templeton, to remain neutral on labor-management affairs, particularly with regard to the unionization of the new Boeing 787 assembly plant in Charleston.

Thoughts On The Spending Conundrum
Government piece by Thomas D. Segel
(2/13/11)
Harlingen, Texas, February 12, 2011: What is written here are far from being new thoughts. These words have been said time and again. Usually they fall on deaf ears. But, we keep repeating them in various forms, hoping they will start a fire within the general public, which in turn will demand action to resolve our national mess. We have all heard that the newly elected conservative Republicans are doing battle with the older Republican-Lite crowd on the issue of how deep to make the budget cuts and roll back big government spending. For now the true conservatives seem to be winning the day. This minor word war has moved me to think about the entire spectrum of the current governmental buy-a-thon.
More hypocrites at the top of the organic food chain
Food piece by Press Release:
Mischa Popoff (2/13/11)
It was August of 2002 when Neil Strayer went on the attack against any notion that organic crops should be tested in the field. He’s an organic grain broker who runs a large company called Growers International Organic Sales Inc.
‘How Should We Interpret the Constitution?‘
The Republic piece by Bruce Walker
(2/13/11)
The Constitution is plainly written. It was intended to be easy to understand. The Constitution is also short. Why do we need a process for interpreting the Constitution means? If we have such a process for divining the meaning of the Constitution, why should that process be secret deliberations of nine judges who are effectively unaccountable to the people? The issue, after Obamacare, has become more than academic. Idaho(1) has passed a resolution of nullification, which removes from the federal bench ultimate power to reject congressional actions as unconstitutional. The Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden(2) advises that nullification is unconstitutional, but he has no power to prevent the Idaho Legislature from passing its resolution.
Arizona is the Second State to introduce the USPU State Nullification Act!
States Rights piece by Press Release:
Barbara Ketay (2/13/11)
The Arizona State legislature has introduced the USPU Nullification Act and like Montana, who introduced it first a little more than a week ago, the AZ bill was introduced without alteration.
“Green Crime” costing taxpayers millions uncovered in probe
GreeenIsm piece by Jim Kouri
(2/13/11)
When President Barack Obama boasts of administration creating “green” jobs and environmental friendly projects, he’s careful not to mention something else being created: “Green Crime.“
‘Can Faith Based Charities Do It Better?‘
Charity piece by Thomas D. Segel
(2/13/11)
Harlingen, Texas, February 2011: It takes very little examination to understand the world we live in is a place of contrasts. The United States of America is viewed as a land of abundant riches, while much of the planet struggles to obtain the necessities of life. Unless those making such observations lived along the United States-Mexico border they would find it difficult to believe such marked contrasts in quality of life are also common in this land of plenty.

‘British Police Afraid of Local Kids, Soon to Come to the USA?‘
Political Correctness piece by Warner Todd Huston
(2/8/11)
A British police chief has prohibited his own officers from patrolling a local park after dark because he and his fellows are afraid of the punks and trouble makers that infest the place at night. Thanks to a self-destructive and blind obeisance to PCism Britain has truly become an asylum run by the inmates. But this disease of PCism is one that left-wingers in America dearly want to emulate. Will the USA soon find police afraid of their own shadows, too?
Montana first to introduce broad-based State Nullification Act
States Rights piece by Press Release:
JB Williams (2/8/11)
The Montana State Legislature is first to introduce a broad-based state nullification bill designed to reassert the states right to rein in the federal government by nullifying all unconstitutional acts committed by the three branches of the federal government.

‘Have The Greens Finally Trapped Biotech Crops?‘
GreeenIsm piece by Dennis T. Avery
(2/7/11)
CHURCHVILLE, VA - When our new knowledge of DNA permitted genetically modified crops, the environmental movement “flipped out.“ Here was a new technology that promised to raise crop yields, protect our food supply from pests, and create a second Green Revolution for “over-populated” places such as Africa and India. The activists believed viscerally that more food would mean more people - and they were apparently terrified that more little brown and yellow people would “use up” such resources as copper and antelope.

Turmoil in Egypt
Middle East piece by Daniel Pipes
(2/6/11)
As Egypt’s much-anticipated moment of crisis arrived and popular rebellions shook governments across the Middle East, Iran stands as never before at the center of the region. Its Islamist rulers are within sight of dominating the region. But revolutions are hard to pull off and I predict that Islamists will not achieve a Middle East-wide breakthrough and Tehran will not emerge as the key powerbroker. Some thoughts behind this conclusion:

Tweets Regarding The State Of The Union 2011
The Republic piece by Frederick Meekins
(2/5/11)
Too bad no member of Congress possessed the courage to blurt out “You lie”, especially in light how everyone was suppose to make bipartisan goo-goo eyes at one another.
White Outs, Red Ink And General Malfeasance
Government piece by J.J. Jackson
(2/5/11)
Yes, it is winter from sea to shining sea. Just in case you could not tell. And like every winter it seems we in the north, where snowfall is more prominent, are getting the same old song and dance from our elected officials. Without fail this is the time of year for exposés and news reports about how those who are supposed to be good stewards of our tax dollars are scrimping and scrounging for money to make sure that the roads are clear after every snowstorm that hits. It is hard to go even a day without hearing about how some city or municipality is struggling to make ends meet with regards to this matter.
State-Owned Churches Are Killing America
Progressivism piece by Guest:
Chuck Baldwin (2/5/11)
America was birthed in the spirit of liberty and baptized in the blood of patriots and tyrants. Leading the charge in America’s fight for independence was a courageous group of patriot-preachers that came to be known as the “Black Regiment.“ I have written several columns on this subject. Suffice it to say here that I invite readers to take a look at my Black Regiment web page to learn more about this early American phenomenon. There is little doubt that without these stalwart Christian pastors, this country would not have come into existence. (I extended this call for a modern-day Black Regiment 5 years before Glenn Beck ever mentioned it.)
Tennessee County School Board Fires Teachers Union
EdukShun piece by Warner Todd Huston
(2/5/11)
Now ‘this’ is more like it. Back in October of 2010 the Summer County, Tennessee School Board decertified the Sumner County Education Association (SCEA), the union for county teachers, because it no longer satisfied the law by counting as members fifty percent plus one of the total number of employees requiring a teaching certificate. This, school board officials said, means that the SCEA can no longer engage in collective bargaining for teachers.
The Great Civil Debate
The Republic piece by Robert R. Owens
(2/5/11)
It is admitted by all except the liberal media and left-wing ideologues jockeying for political and partisan advantage, neither the tenor nor the content of our public discourse had any bearing upon the tragedy(1) in Tucson. Nevertheless there have been calls for a return to civility in our speech. I heartily second that motion, believing as I do that civility should always be the hallmark of discussion among ladies and gentleman. However, that is not the topic of this discourse.
Debt, Money and Illegal’s
General piece by Guest:
Armand C. Hale (2/5/11)
These themes seem to have saturated my e-mail sources as I prepared to write about topics from the front burners of the non-main-stream-medias. I don’t have any problems writing about what the government is trying to force upon us next and at every minute. (JMJ)
Global Warming? I Don’t THINK So!
Global Warming piece by J. D. Longstreet
(2/5/11)
As I sit here tapping out theses few thoughts on the keyboard, I am awaiting the arrival of more sleet - and rain - and maybe a few stray snowflakes. And I am in sub-tropical North Carolina—just four blocks from my city’s own, centrally located, downtown, SWAMP!
Analyzing The Open-Border Mentality
National Sovereignty piece by Guest:
Paul A. Ibbetson (2/5/11)
How special is America? Is it truly a unique place where people can find opportunities for a better life that surpass those of other countries? Many think this to be true and the country has had a long history of being a welcoming place for people from all across the world. From 1892 to 1924 the port of New York at Ellis Island processed over 20 million foreign immigrants to legally enter the country. According to the National Park Service’s Ellis Island site, as many as 11,747 immigrants legally entered America in a single day in 1907. It is estimated that as many 100 million Americans are descendants of the process of legal immigration that took place at locations such as Ellis Island.
Union Fights to Force You into Obamacare While Getting Waivers for Itself
ObamaCare piece by Warner Todd Huston
(2/5/11)
The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is one of Obama’s biggest donors. Curiously enough, the SEIU is also one of the more than 700 unions and corporations that have gotten waivers(1) from the Obama administration to get out from under some of the oppressive rules of Obamacare. Yet, even as they have been allowed to escape Obamacar’s rules, the SEIU is lobbying hard to make sure the rest of us do’‘t have as much luck.
Prominent Filmmaker Dies in Idaho
Life piece by Rev. Miles
(2/5/11)
A prominent filmmaker who put God and family values first in his productions proved to the industry that a heavy market exists for family friendly films and they bring in a big profit as well. One of his current feature films, “Friends For Life,“ a touching action-filled story featuring four incredible wolf pups was extremely well received by the public and was embraced by critics who wrote glowing reviews. To our sorrow, this press release just came in from Grizzly Adams Productions:
Keynesian Philosophical Assumptions
Economics piece by Thomas E. Brewton
(2/5/11)
Keynesian macroeconomics is inconceivable without Darwinian evolution and secular socialism.

Ronald Reagan Saw The Shining City On The Hill
History piece by Guest:
Kendall Wingrove (2/3/11)
Much will be written, and should be, as we mark the 100th anniversary of Ronald Reagan’s birth. During this centennial observance, let’s recapture the vision of America’s 40th president and use it as a roadmap for the 21st century and beyond.
