Was Ever A Nation So Besieged? Yes!

Across the Atlantic Ocean and beyond Africa there is the Middle East, a place filled with insane Muslim holy warriors, and across the Pacific Ocean and beyond Japan, there's North Korea whose leader is insane, but cunning. They built two lovely nuclear reactors and now they're making nuclear weapons with them. Who would have suspected such a thing? Their closest neighbor is Red China and some people think they have bad intentions toward the US.
To the south, in Mexico, President Vicente Fox's official policy is to reconquer its lost territories from California to Texas by simply flooding these States with Mexicans, legal and illegal. Further on, the Red Chinese have established a base of operations in Panama. In Venezuela, one of our major suppliers of oil, the people are in the streets trying to oust a president who is also a Communist. In Brazil, there's another one. Most of South America hasn't figured out that Socialism doesn't work.
The curious thing is that most of the people of the world admire our dedication to freedom and even aspects of our culture, but if you listened to the 'leaders' of nations, few have a kind word. Real leaders are expected to have courage.
One is reminded of World War II, which broke out in Europe thanks to the megalomania of Adolf Hitler and the arrogance of the German people who began to believe they were the 'master race.' Still struggling to recover from the Great Depression, the US was reluctant to get involved except to help England with whatever it needed to protect itself. Then Pearl Harbor occurred and not only did we declare war on Japan, we did the same for Germany and its axis partner, Italy. We even swallowed hard and buddied up with Joe Stalin's Soviet Union in order to have a second front in the East.
Now, having waited over a decade for the United Nations to do something other than pass resolutions, America, i.e., George W. Bush, has decided that enough is enough. His Pearl Harbor came on September 11, 2001. He dispatched troops to Afghanistan to chase the al Qaeda and Taliban around and he began to plan to eliminate the dictator of Iraq. Get rid of him and the others of his kind will sit on very shaky thrones.
Great nations either rise to the challenge of their times or they cease to be great. America is a great nation. The greatest the world has ever seen. We are rich. We are generous. We tell the world 'in God we trust.' We are the most militarily powerful nation on Earth. And we have a Constitution that spells out the rights of a free people. These are the reasons some hate us, envy us, and seek to kill us. We shall deal out American justice to them.
The world is in the grip of Islamist fanaticism and the remaining efforts of hardcore Communists to win out over Capitalism by subversion and any other means possible. On one side is America and on the other are the forces of despotism, many of whom meet in a building beside the East River of New York City called the United Nations. Apparently the only thing they are united upon is the creation of a global government to enslave the peoples of the world.
When we meet this challenge, the Communist house of cards will crumble in this century just as it did in the former Soviet Union in the last one. When we meet this challenge, we will destroy the Islamic terrorists and their nation-state sponsors. We will literally drag the whole of the Middle East into the 2lst century.
The appeasers of evil who wail and cry because of casualties, because the war doesn't end in a week or two, because regretably civilians get killed, are unworthy of all the previous generations of Americans who fought and died to end the evil of their times.
And, when the smoke clears, America will then turn its attention to across the Pacific and to beyond the Texas border. To some generations of Americans much is asked. We will take up the torch of freedom, we honor our living and fallen heroes. We will save the world from a new Dark Age.
We will not fail. We are Americans and our destiny, our purpose, is to spread democracy and freedom throughout the world, to spread capitalism and raise the standard of living for the poorest nations and people.
