Fire Imus. Fire SHARPTON.
By J. Grant Swank Jr. (05/10/07)
Well, the merry has gone round. What goes round comes round. Whatever.
Anyhow, it’s time to fire Al Sharpton—the big mouth self-proclaimed so-called Pentecostal preacher who said that we don’t need to worry about Mitt Romney for God’ll take care of him in short order.
Sharpton proclaimed from his bully pulpit that Romney is whacko on his definition of the divine. Therefore Sharpton’s divine is going to kick butt on Romney. It’s just a matter of time.
Now is not this Sharpton the same wag who cut up Imus so that Imus got fired? I think it is the same fellow. So if Sharpton can get Imus fired because of what came out of Imus’ mouth, why can’t Sharpton get shut down because of what comes out of Sharpton’s mouth?
What’s good for the white man is good for the black man, I always say. What’s fair is fair. It’s the American way. And you can add your list of cliches to this litany and we’ll be eating apple pie when hitting home free. Whatever.
It really ticks me off that Sharpton can mouth off so high and mighty about God when Sharpton really has no idea who God is. Sharpton’s God supports killing womb babies and homosexuals acting out their fantasies on one another.
Now I’ve been brought up on the Old Book. And I’ve been preaching from it for nearly half a century. I even got a masters’ degree in the Old Book’s data. So I should have something to say about Sharpton—self-appointed so-called Pentecostal preacher. He’s way out in the devil’s left field. That’s where Sharpton is.
The God of the Old Book makes it quite clear that wasting away a womb child is murder. Further, that same God minces no words when it comes to those of the same gender sharing the same sexual pastimes. That may seem quite bold to the finicky. But that’s really what the Old Book sets forth without blushing and without apology.
So Sharpton is a hypocrite. He’s a fibber. He’s a charlatan. He’s an egomaniac who can’t wait to storm into his clergy robes to blast the hide off of someone else—all in the name of the Almighty.
Well, I’ve got something to warn the Mr. Sharpton: You are not a true Pentecostal. There is not one—hear me now, not one—biblical, orthodox, Jesus-shouting Pentecostal who believes as you do about abortion and homosexual sex. Nary a one. Sharpton, you and the devil stand alone on that one.
Further, there is not one biblical, orthodox, Jesus-shouting Pentecostal anywhere on this globe who believes deity smiles upon homosexual practice. Nary a one.
Therefore, Sharpton you are not Pentecostal. You may tell the secular, theologically uninformed media that you are; but God knows you are a liar on that score. And at the judgment, you will find out for yourself how you have manufactured your own devilment persona.
In addition, you have no one ordaining you as a Christian minister than your cadre whom you have hoodwinked into believing that the divine call rested upon your soul when you were four years old. That’s right. Your Amen corner fans have told the world that the divine call to preach settled upon your soul when you were only four years old.
Is that not a hoot?
But I need not go further. You blasted Imus. Imus lost his job. You blasted Romney. You are off-beat in that blast. And therefore, you should lose your job of ever standing before a media mike again. Ever.
Just as a footnote: evangelicals consider Romney’s Mormonism a theological cult. Why? Because though Mormons use the words "Jesus Christ" in the title of their organization—The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—they don’t believe Christ to be a part of the godhead. Christ is a lesser god. He is not fully God and therefore does not have the standing as Second Person of the Trinity.
That is a direct hit in the basic doctrine of biblical believers and they know it. Therefore, this article does not in any way defend Romney’s Mormonism. It does however defend him from being slammed by a hick hypocrite. And that, Mr. Sharpton, you surely are.
So cut it. Over and out. You’re fired, Sharpton. You’re fired.
