Iraq: Teen Girl Stoned as 'Honor'
By J. Grant Swank Jr. (05/06/07)
"Honor killing" is daily fare among zealot Muslims. It is not a crime. It
is an offering to Allah to preserve Islamic doctrine. Therefore, police and
media usually look the other way. It is a male dominance tenet that leaves
the female with no justice.
Per Daily Mail, the 17-year-old Muslim female was dragged in front of
crazed zealot Muslim males who threw rocks at her until she was crushed to
death.
The rocks' sizes are stipulated by the Koran - not too large as to bring
quick death, not too small so as to prolong the torture endlessly.
"As a horrifying video of the stoning went out on the Internet, the
British arm of Amnesty International condemned the death of Du'a Khalil
Aswad as 'an abhorrent murder' and demanded that her killers be brought to
justice."
If they are "brought to justice," there are countless others "out there"
who likewise must be brought to justice. However, they never will appear
before any court due to "honor killing" acceptable in numberless zealot
Muslim environs.
Will this barbarism become global? Will legalistic Allah devotees mentored
in such atrocities from generation to generation take this hellish custom with
them into non-Muslim cultures ? Will civil nations wake up in time to
thwart such intrusions?
"Reports from Iraq said a local security force witnessed the incident, but
did nothing to try to stop it. Now her boyfriend is in hiding in fear for
his life.
"Miss Aswad, a member of a minority Kurdish religious group called Yezidi,
was condemned to death as an 'honor killing' by other men in her family
and hardline religious leaders because of her relationship with the Sunni
Muslim boy.
"They said she had shamed herself and her family when she failed to return
home one night. Some reports suggested she had converted to Islam to be
closer to her boyfriend.
"Miss Aswad had taken shelter in the house of a Yezidi tribal leader in
Bashika, a predominantly Kurdish town near the northern capital, Mosul.
"A large crowd watched as eight or nine men stormed the house and dragged
Miss Aswad into the street. There they hurled stones at her for half an
hour until she was dead."
It is common for mobs to stand by doing nothing when such murder takes
place. These mobs include boys and girls who are indoctrinated in this
killing as Islamic legitimate. Young pick up the Koran-sanctioned ritual,
passing it on to their young.
The same is true of tying youth to public poles for whip lashing. Such is
daily occurrence in Iran.
Likewise, women accused of one "crime" or another are hung from tall poles
lining country roads and city streets. Boys and girls pass these dead
bodies daily. The black hooded frames bob in the day's winds.
"The stoning happened last month, but only came to light yesterday with
the release of the Internet video.
"It is feared her death has already triggered a retaliatory attack. Last
week 23 Yezidi workmen were forced off a bus traveling from Mosulto
Bashika by a group of Sunni gunmen and summarily shot dead.
"An Amnesty International spokesman in London said they receive frequent
reports of honor crimes from Iraq - particularly in the predominantly
Kurdish north.
"Most victims are women and girls who are considered by male relatives to
have shamed their families by immoral behavior."
In some Muslim nations laws have been passed against "honor killing."
However, often officials ignore the laws for the centuries-long custom.
Villagers intent on murdering their females have no regard for such
legislation. In fact, most laws of such content are merely on the books to
make the Muslim nation appear civil to non-Muslim nations' leaders.
"Kurdish authorities have introduced reforms outlawing honor killings, but
have failed to investigate them or prosecute suspects, added the Amnesty
spokesman.
"Kate Allen, the organization's UK director, said: 'This young girl's
murder is truly abhorrent and her killers must be brought to justice.
"'Unless the authorities respond vigorously to this and any other reports
of crimes in the name of 'honor', we must fear for the future of women in
Iraq.'"
Not only Iraq but every Muslim nation on the planet. Add to that the
non-Muslim nations where traditionalist zealot, extremist Muslims are
moving in with their barbaric customs regarded as rituals offered in holiness to Allah.
