Bush's Irresponsible Iraq Billions & Bremer's Billions Give-Away to Save His Hide
By J. Grant Swank Jr. (02/07/07)
I don't care what political party gets sensible about spending, just do it.
Our Red States’ win with Republicans taking over Congress yielded us at the grassroots really nothing laudable.
Now Dems are in control. Then let them do something to close down the Iraq war as well as the over spending for that civil war that has no use for multinational troops.
According to AP, President Bush is asking Congress for $2.9 trillion that will funnel billions to Iraq. That is abhorrent.
“The massive four-volume set of budget books, featuring two-tone green covers, was headed to Congress Monday, where the plan will receive a decidedly mixed reaction from Democrats. They have made clear that they plan to push their own budget priorities after regaining control of the House and Senate for the first time in 12 years.
“Iraq is likely to dominate the debate with war opponents who are pushing nonbinding resolutions expressing disapproval of Bush’s 21,500-troop buildup there.”
Support our troops by bringing them home. Take Iraq war designated moneys for homeland security.
Operation Iraqi Freedom opened up the killing cult box, exposing Islam as a “religion” scribed by demons. That cult cannot produce a democracy. Democracies have been produced by a Judeo-Christian backup culture. Check it out with your history book.
The Bible has been THE staple for democracy planting. Its value system molded democracies’ justice, education, medicine and political ethical bases.
The Koran cannot produce anything but murder and maiming for the multitudinous verses expressly proclaim the Koran’s Allah demanding beheading infidels and cowardly Muslims as well as torturing any lawbreakers, even to hanging teens accused of stealing.
The only profitable variable that has come out of Operation Iraqi Freedom is that the knowledgeable world now knows that the cult named “Islam” is truly a menace to anything civil. Perhaps that in itself has been worth the war in the long term.
But back to Mr. Bush’s budget, it is nonsense and futile regarding its slot for the Iraq war continuance.
Now to Paul Bremer handing out billions to save his hide.
And you would do the same.
I wondered how he ever stayed alive. There he lived in Hussein’s palace — roughing it with computers and a cot off to the side somewhere. It was set up like a Manhattan office of sorts, accent on "of sorts." He had his deputies.
But outside were rambunctious Muslim males — millions of them — clogging boulevards throughout the Iraqi cities. They shouted. They stomped. They contorted their faces into Allah knots.
"How is that guy going to survive?" I asked myself day after day.
Well, Operation Iraqi Freedom had a three-week win war. But the afterglow was soon faded for DC really had no aftermath plan. They won with military might but the civil network was nothing but desert flat.
Poor Bremer did not even have an established title. I recall media not knowing what to tag him. He finally got some sort of fancy phrase attached to his name. Big deal.
He wore a business suit, shirt and tie. But what made him look cool were those combat boots. Or were they construction boots? I don’t know. But they made him look Gentleman Quarterly masculine and tough along with being an executive impress. After all, he was New Iraq’s CEO — reporting directly to US President George W. Bush. Whoopee.
God only knew that nobody knew what was going on.
The innards of the fresh set-up were in disarray. But the administration kept up a front that made it appear as if Bremer knew what he was doing. And the columnists gave us human interest bits about how early he got up, how many meters he walked to keep fit, and that he was in his early 60s to boot.
Bremer was the good looking jock who strutted from one free nation leader to another, then ran back to his palace make-believe suite, wondering no doubt if he would be blown up before dawn.
How he ever escaped with his life I don’t know.
But I do remember that when he was released to return to America, he did not hesitate. In fact, do you recall that he came back hours early? Yes he did. And I would have, too. Only I would have never dressed in a business suit, shirt and tie. I would have donned a flight suit and made for the nearest aircraft aimed for JFK.
Of course Bremer forked out billions. Of course he did. What is so shocking about that? Operation Iraqi Freedom’s lack of aftermath called for loose or no records. That was simply another part of the disheveled scene begun by the Oval Office.
There was no palace suite bookkeeper. There was no accounting office. Further, there was nobody out in the field who knew a tack what he was doing. What was the long term? Only God knew the short term, let alone the long term. It was all a trumped-up drama. And Bremer, cool cat, was pushed center stage.
He had aplomb. He had the looks. He had presence.
Now today he has to answer to congressional high hats about where every dollar went under his reign in Baghdad. I want to offer quick, crisis prayers — "ejaculatory prayers" they are called in seminary theology class — for Brenner — then and now.
He honestly does not deserve this merciless grilling that he is getting from these DC pansies. They did not go to bed nights wondering if their brains were going to be glued to the palace walls. They slept in their comfortable whatevers.
So for fairness’ sake, we all should leave Bremer alone. Let him hike out into the wild blue yonder. I vote he go Jet Blue to some faraway island. The DC pansies will think he has flown out on some pompous elite access aircraft. Not. Jet Blue to wherever he won’t tell a soul. He deserves it.
Admit it.
If you had lived in Bremer’s combat boots while in that dreary palace, you would have handed out billions, too. After all, it was your hide or the thick Muslim mobs stomping you into pulp.
