Dubai Buys U.S. Presidents Along With Ports
By Dave Gibson (03/11/06)
While most Americans were shocked by the news that an Arab nation was taking over several major U.S. ports, the point must be made that Dubai has been padding the wallets of U.S. Presidents for the last several years. After examination of a few of Dubai's high-profile donations, it is easy to see why the ports deal has such strong support among the elite fraternity of U.S. Presidents.
Former President Jimmy Carter rarely needs a strong reason to betray his own country. However, Dubai has given the man who is largely responsible for the spread of Islamic terrorism half a million reasons to support the deal which will place an Islamic country in charge of our vulnerable ports. Jimmy Carter recently accepted a $500,000 donation from Dubai. The money was donated to the Carter Center (which basically lends legitimacy to anti-American despotic regimes). Carter has certainly not forgotten the generous gift and now finds himself in complete agreement with President Bush.
It should come as no great shock that Bill Clinton is for sale. Clinton's lack of morality and principles was obviously not lost on the government of Dubai. Slick Willy has twice accepted a speaking fee of $300,000 from the tiny oil-rich nation, for no doubt awe-inspiring speeches. Dubai also donated $1 million to the Clinton Presidential Library. Among much speculation, a spokesman for Clinton recently confirmed that the former president had advised UAE officials to offer a 45-day hold period to help quell the fears of American lawmakers. In the last four years, Dubai has given Bill Clinton $1.6 million.
President Bush or at least the Bush family has incredibly lucrative ties to Dubai. The UAE donated $1 million to the Bush Presidential Library (Bush Sr.), while private Dubai investors (including the royal family) gave Neil Bush most of the $23 million needed to start his educational software company known as Ignite! The UAE has also invested heavily over many years in the investment firm known as The Carlyle Group. Former President Bush was the longtime senior adviser of the firm.
Recently, the Bush administration named David Sanborn the new administrator of the Transportation Department's Maritime Administration. Until a few weeks ago, Sanborn was Dubai Ports World's director of operations for Europe and Latin America. The government panel which approved the Dubai deal known as the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States is chaired by Treasury Secretary John Snow. Before accepting the cabinet post, Snow was chairman of CSX Railroad. Shortly after Snow joined the Bush White House, CSX sold their international ports contracts to Dubai Ports World for over $1 billion...Of course, Snow and Sanborn both claim to have no prior knowledge of either deal.
While retired Sen. Bob Dole is only a former presidential candidate, he too has been lining his pockets with Dubai's money. After losing the 1996 election, Dole registered as a paid lobbyist and went to work for the Washington D.C. law firm of Alston and Bird. Apparently, when the former Kansas Senator was not making Viagra commercials he was working behind the scenes for Dubai. Dole lobbied U.S. officials for the port takeover, while his wife (Sen. Elizabeth Dole (R-NC)), has voiced strong objections to the deal.
Now we know what would make current and former U.S. Presidents as well as a war hero compromise U.S. sovereignty and security...MONEY!
Why else would President Bush threaten to use his veto power for the first time over a private business deal? Why would that same president order his liars-for-hire to brand anyone who objects to the deal as a racist? Why would that same president fight so hard for a country who refuses to recognize the legitimacy of Israel, but who did recognize the Taliban as a legitimate government?
Bush wishes to hand-over the control of U.S. ports to a Muslim government who was instrumental in financing the 9/11 attacks. However, can we really expect much more from a president who refuses to guard the borders of his own nation? The Bush administration has shown itself to care more for profits than U.S. sovereignty. It has become painfully clear that Bush is not serious about fighting Islamic terrorists.
We know that Jimmy Carter is a traitor. We know that Bill Clinton is amoral. Now we know that our current president is also for sale. The time has now come to seriously pursue the impeachment of President Bush.
Carter, Clinton, Dole, and Bush should all be charged with sedition. We need to send the strong message to these presidential charlatans that while they may be for sale--we are not! No man, not even the president is more important than the survival of these United States.
Of course, the Dubai deal appears to have been stopped for now but we must keep fighting against those who would sell-out our safety. If we are to survive...We must right this sinking ship of state and eradicate the corruption that so obviously now grips this nation's leadership.
